Murphy has been diagnosed with Addison's Disease, a condition where her body does not naturally produce enough cortisol. The condition is well managed with medication given morning and night, along with a monthly injection. As long as her treatment is maintained, Murphy can live a happy, active and normal life with minimal impact on her day-to-day routine. She may occasionally need a short rest after becoming very excited or active, but otherwise she enjoys life just like any other dog. Prospective adopters should be aware of her ongoing medication requirements and monthly veterinary care to ensure her condition remains well controlled. Murphy’s medications are below and cost roughly $60 for both medications for a 2 month supply
Fluoxetine Capsules 20mg (once per day)
Cortisone acetate 25mg (twice daily)
As well as a monthly injection of Zycortal Inc 4ml ($130 per month)
Murphy was found to have a mild lower left eyelid entropion. This has remained unchanged for years and is not causing any issues at this stage.
