Kayo is a little boy with a big heart, currently hidden behind a layer of fear. He has had a start to life that no dog ever should. Found abandoned in remote bushland with his siblings, Kayo is understandably a very cautious and sensitive soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe and kind place.
Despite his tough start to life, Kayo has made great progress with his foster family and is beginning to become like any regular pup, revealing his high energy but also extremely loving and gentle self. Like a true working class dog, Kayo loves to loves to run around and chase his fur friends, foster carers and toys. He also enjoys letting out a little bark of joy when he is playing or wants attention. Kayo is very food motivated and has mastered sit and quiet. He is making great progress with waiting for his food and recall.
Although he is improving immensely with his socialization, Kayo is still a cautious boy with new people and environments. At first, Kayo may not want to be touched or approached, but with consistency and gentleness, he will slowly show you just how beautiful and gentle his soul truly is. Having been abandoned, Kayo does not like to be alone. He will need an active owner who is home often and willing to move at Kayo’s pace as he learns to trust and feel secure. Kayo also absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a calm, confident canine companion to help guide him and build his confidence. Kayo desperately wants to be loved and when he learns to trust, will follow you around like a shadow for security and comfort.
Kayo is searching for a very special home—one filled with patience, love and understanding. With the right support, time and guidance, Kayo has incredible potential to become the most loyal and loving companion. For the right person or family willing to open their heart to him, Kayo will be a truly special and rewarding addition.
