Meet Ian. The happiest little legend you’ll ever meet!
At just over a year old, Ian, a wired-haired Dachshund cross, who approaches life with unfiltered joy. In fact, even the vet nurse said she’d never seen a dog so excited to be at the clinic, and that tells you everything you need to know!
Ian loves everyone. Adults, kids, neighbours, passing strangers — they’re all potential best friends. He adores children, though his enthusiastic “LET’S PLAY RIGHT NOW!” energy means he’d be best suited to older kids who won’t be fazed by his exuberance. Tell him he’s a “good boy” and he absolutely lights up. He thrives on praise and positive reinforcement and would blossom with a kind owner to help refine those last bits of puppy enthusiasm into polished charm.
Ian is clever and curious, which means he needs stimulation. A playful canine buddy would be perfect - he loves every size of dogs, but a human who’s home often and ready for games of fetch or tug (fair warning: you will tire before he does) would suffice. That said, once he’s had his fun, he’s more than content to curl up for hours on the couch.
He’s deeply social and wants to be wherever his people are, including on the bed at night. Fortunately, he’s an excellent bed companion who simply curls up and sleeps.
Ian is great in the car, loves his walks (though you’ll need patience — every single smell must be investigated thoroughly), and will happily roll over for a tummy rub at every opportunity. He’s very food-motivated, loves being in the garden when his humans are outside and brings joy wherever he goes.
He truly is the sweetest little character. Everyone who meets him falls for him, and he’s already built quite the fan club in the neighbourhood.
Ian is looking for a forever home where he’s truly part of the family, an indoor dog with a secure outdoor space to play, ideally a small dog companion, and humans who will love him as wholeheartedly as he will love them.
If you’re ready for loyalty, laughter and a whole lot of tail wags, Ian is waiting.
Ian currently has Atopic Dermatitis, he is currently on a 3 week course of Prednisone. Prednisone is a highly effective, fast-acting corticosteroid used to rapidly reduce itching and inflammation from atopic dermatitis in dogs. He potentially may get flare ups in summer & spring.
