Maremmas are intelligent, loyal, and independent working dogs bred to protect livestock such as sheep and goats from predators. They are not suited to suburban homes or small yards – they thrive on acreage where they can roam and do what they were born to do: guard and protect. This breed is naturally wary of strangers and alert to unusual sounds, making them exceptional guardians.
George is an affectionate, cuddly puppy with a calm personality. He absolutely loves running around and playing with his sister, but will go off exploring by himself at times as well. He is good with cats, other dogs and kids.
He would suit a home with another dog for companionship and guidance. He has started his livestock guardian dog training, being exposed to chickens, ducks and sheep. As a maremma, he would best suit a home with acreage and a job in livestock protection so he doesn’t get bored.
George is very smart and easy to train. He already knows sit, stay and come. He is also crate trained and travels well in cars.
