I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Blossom

We're happy to tell you that Blossom has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Please read Blossom’s profile before considering applying for her. She may be beautiful but she requires a very particular home.

Hi!  My name is Blossom and I am looking for a very special person or family to love. Please know that I am a beautiful girl inside and out, but I am very shy and it is going to take me a while to get used to my new environment and new people.  It has taken me a while to realise that the world and people within it are actually okay and that I don’t need to be afraid anymore.  I am still wary of loud noises that I don’t recognise and people that I am not familiar with.   But given time and patience, I am a superb companion who wants to be by your side.  I am still very much a puppy, so older children are best for me as they are a bit quieter.

I have been around older children in my foster home, several other foster dogs both puppies and adults, and two cats. I would be best suited to a home without another pet to start with so that I can get used to my new environment and my new people.

I am housetrained but it may take me a while to want to come inside my new house until I feel more secure.  I happily go inside my foster home but it took me a little while to get there.   I am a good watch dog and will bark at people outside of my front gate if I think they are up to no good.  I also like to chase birds but I will never harm them.  I live with two cats and am very curious about them, but I will never hurt them either.   I have a very cheeky nature, which will show when I have become comfortable in my new home.

I have no issues being in the car and I absolutely love toys.  I like to ensure I have a collection of both toys and blankets at all times, so I will have a pile of both wherever I am hanging out that day.  I love going for walks and am doing well on the lead once I figure out we are going somewhere nice.  Sniffing the local smells is one of my favourite things, as is digging giant holes and hiding toys in them.

I am not a high energy dog and love to snuggle with my foster mum after having a big play.  I am a very gentle girl and will respect every dog I meet, and every human too.  I also take food very gently out of all human hands.

I have so much potential to be a loving family dog; but please do not apply for me unless you are willing to wait for me to feel comfortable in my new home however long it takes.  Once I have let my guard down you will see me as a funny, charismatic and beautiful girl who just wants to be loved like I truly deserve.  The time and effort that my foster family has put into me shows, but you will need to continue that so I can be the happy girl I am destined to be.

Blossom doesn’t require a lot of exercise and is still not completely comfortable being on the lead. However, once she figures out she is going for a walk she is happy. She is good in the car and does not get motion sickness, but she will need to be carried in and out of it to start with.

The best way to win Blossom’s trust is by getting down to her level and offering her some tasty treats. She is particularly fond of liver treats and cooked chicken.

She does not have a mean bone in her body and is not fear aggressive, she prefers to retreat when not comfortable. She is fine with the carers teenage children, husband and even the vet handling her.

If you are considering adopting Blossom, there are a few requirements below:

  • Patience is a must.  She will come to you and she will love you, but it will take weeks for this to happen.
  • She will need a large crate with the door left open so she has somewhere she feels safe.
  • She is still frightened of some loud noises, so young children will scare her and it is best if she is kept away from them until she feels safe in her new environment.
  • Secure 6 foot fencing is a must.  She has not attempted to escape, but a scared dog in a new environment can potentially jump fences.
  • Blossom is currently on 150mcg of Catapres for anxiety.  One box is $28 and lasts for 1.5 months.

Blossom has the potential to be an amazing companion for someone who has the time and commitment.  Please fill out an application if you would like to meet her.

HEALTH WAIVER: Blossom is currently on 150mcg of Catapres for anxiety.  One box is $28 and lasts for 1.5 months.
