Dior is a sweet and placid girl. She currently lives with two human foster parents and three doggy foster siblings.
Dior hasn’t had a great start in life isolated from the outside world and came into care scared and shut down. Since then she has made amazing progress coming out of her shell. Although she is still quite timid and may be nervous in new situations, she is doing great in learning how to interact with the world, how to trust people and not to be scared all the time. She becomes better at all those things every day.
She has settled into her foster home routine quickly. She has good manners, loves food and responds well to gentle training. She is a clever cookie who learns quickly and is eager to please.
She is a low energy girl, she doesn’t bark and prefers a good snooze on a sofa to any other activity. She likes to play with the toys, plush and rope ones are her favourite and she happily spends hours chewing on them.
In the evening, she snoozes next to her humans on the sofa in front of TV with her head in their lap. Dior “talks” to her people in her own cute vocal way telling them that the sun is up and we all should do the same, the meal time is here, the water bowl needs a refill and that she wants a hug. She enjoys the new life as a valued family member in the loving household.
She sleeps through the night without a peep and is fully toilet trained.
She is perfectly fine being left home alone.
She loves other dogs of all sizes and sexes and gets on well with them. She happily plays with her foster siblings. She is a laid back, calm and submissive girl and will probably be ok with cats and other animals too. She must have another friendly dog in the household.
Although she may be nervous sometimes, she
doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.
Dior is looking for a quieter home (older, respectful kids are ok) and a patient family committed to helping her progress by providing her with their time, care and loving guidance.
In return, she will give back a lifetime of unconditional love and loyal companionship.
Dior can have episodes of Shar-Pei recurrent fever syndrome. This syndrome is triggered by stress.
It is a hereditary condition that affects nearly one in four Shar-Pei dogs. Affected dogs experience recurrent episodes of fever and inflammation, with no identifiable underlying cause.
We recommend reading up on the condition before applying.
Dior is currently on Cochinine 0.5mg - 2/3rd of a tablet daily to prevent Sharpei Fever, she has not had an episode since. It costs $12 for a bottle and lasts just over a month.
