Hans is a gorgeous 5-year-old Dachshund looking for his forever family. Hans has had a rough start to life his coat and weight have come a long way in foster care and he is thriving in care.
This handsome little guy is happily living in foster care with four children aged 3 to 16, and he’s showing us what a wonderful family companion he can be. He loves nothing more than following you around or curled up on the couch on your lap.
Hans also lives in foster care with 3 indoor cats. He does have a cheeky Dachshund instinct to chase them, but being short he cant get to there hidey spots. His future family will need to continue working on his cat manners.
Hans also lives in care with a bossy Kelpie female. He gets along well with other dogs but needs to be fed separately as he is a slow eater.
Hans enjoys the best of both worlds — he loves spending time inside with his family as well as enjoying the sun the outdoors.
He is still learning his inside toilet training, so his new family will need to be patient and continue helping him get the hang of things. He happily sleeps in his crate at night. Hans hasn't been walked on a lead, so he is still learning how to do this. Hans also travels well in the car and has been on several long car trips.
Hans is a sweet boy with plenty of personality and charm.
He’s ready to find a family who will give him the love, patience and guidance he deserves.
HEALTH WAIVER:
Hans has experienced some hair loss due to poor nutrition and flea allergy dermatitis. His coat is gradually growing back, although he still has a few areas where hair has not yet fully returned.
He is thriving on a high-quality diet consisting of Black Hawk food, supplemented with sardines a couple of times each week. To support his ongoing skin and coat recovery, he should continue to be bathed with Malaseb until his hair has completely regrown.
