I’m told I’m a German Shepherd… although at the moment I’m mostly oversized paws, floppy ears and trying to work out how this big world works.
I’m a gentle giant in the making, and with these feet, my foster mum keeps telling me I’m going to be a very big boy one day!
I’m fully toilet trained (although I do still appreciate a quick midnight trip to the garden), and at night you’ll find me sleeping soundly on the floor beside my foster mum’s bed. I like knowing my people are close.
I’ve already learnt my basic commands because, well… German Shepherds are pretty clever. I love learning and I’m always watching, listening and trying to work out what you’re asking of me.
I’m currently living with two large female dogs and fit in beautifully. I’m also perfectly happy settling at home with them while my foster mum heads out. I absolutely adored a young foster puppy who stayed with us, and was incredibly gentle and patient with her. It seems I have a real soft spot for little ones.
I’ve also met some little humans. I’m very curious about them, although children under about six are still a little confusing and make me a bit unsure. Given time, patience and positive experiences, my confidence continues to grow.
So far, I’m a very gentle quiet boy. I haven’t found my voice yet and rarely bark. What I do enjoy is cuddles, belly rubs and simply being close to my people.
Now, if you’re thinking about adopting a German Shepherd, here’s something important…
Dogs like me don’t just want a home—they want a purpose. We thrive on routine, consistency, training and calm, confident leadership. We love using our brains just as much as our bodies, so mental enrichment, ongoing training and being included in family life are all incredibly important to us.
The wonderful thing is, everything you invest in me comes back tenfold. My loyalty, intelligence and devotion are what make German Shepherds such an incredible breed.
If you’re looking for a best friend who will grow with you, learn alongside you and become your shadow, I might just be the boy you’ve been waiting for.
