Smiley is a beautiful, kind, and sweet-natured Border Collie x Maremma. True to his name, you’ll often catch him “smiling” when he’s happy – a heart-melting expression that perfectly reflects his gentle spirit.
Smiley gets along wonderfully with other animals, including dogs, cats, and even farm animals, making him a great fit for a multi-animal home. He is only a medium sized dog at 21kg.
He is still learning what it means to be part of a loving family. Having had limited exposure to everyday life as a household pet, many things are new and can feel a little overwhelming for him. Because of this, Smiley can be unsure at first and will need time, patience, and reassurance to feel safe and settled.
Smiley isn’t the kind of dog who will rush up for cuddles straight away. When he first arrives, he may prefer to observe from a distance while he takes in his new surroundings. With consistent kindness and gentle encouragement, he will gradually build trust and begin to show his affectionate and loyal nature.
He would thrive best in a calm household, ideally with no young children or with older kids who understand the importance of respecting his space and boundaries. Allowing Smiley to progress at his own pace will be key to helping him feel secure and confident.
Smiley would also benefit from the companionship of a calm, confident dog who can help guide and reassure him.
At this stage, he isn’t quite ready for outside adventures, as being on a lead is still unfamiliar and a little scary. He would do best in a home with a secure, spacious backyard where he can safely explore and build confidence.
Smiley is searching for a patient and understanding family who are willing to invest the time and love he needs to adjust. With commitment and kindness, he has all the potential to become a deeply devoted and loving member of the family.
