Hi, my name is Duke, I'm 5 and a half years old and I am a sweet natured, gentle boy who is only too eager to please. I like nothing better than flopping down for a belly rub, leaning in for cuddles, or putting my big head in your lap.
I am a super friendly, intelligent boy and like people very much. My favourite things are following my foster mum around while she cleans and tidies inside and out. I also like spending time relaxing in the garden. Equally, I enjoy stretching out indoors on my bed or lying on the cool tiles, helping out in the kitchen and lounging on the sofa.
Even though I am a big, strong boy, I am a quick learner and have some lovely manners. I can sit, lay down, stay and give you a paw when asked. I am also toilet trained, can walk nicely on a lead and will sleep the night through.
However, like most males, I do occasionally suffer from selective deafness, especially when I am in a new situation or when making new friends as it can be very exciting and interesting. My foster mum and I are currently working on less enthusiastic hellos.
I am at my best with calm, understanding adults and older children and, now I have settled in to my foster home, I am happy to be left on my own for a few hours without getting distressed.
I am a very handsome, friendly boy and, although I am the only dog in my foster home, my initial response to anything new is enthusiastic, friendly and interested. I do think my perfect forever home would be one with either an only pet or a friendly and relaxed medium/large female dog.
So, if you are ready for a big dog with an even bigger personality (all sweet and gentle) then I’m the boy for you. All I need in return is lots of love and kindness!
