Mickey is a young 2‑year‑old wirehaired Jack Russell mix who has had a very sheltered start to life. Sadly, his owner passed away, and Mickey is now learning how to navigate the big wide world with the help of patient, understanding humans.
Mickey is good with other dogs and plays beautifully. He would thrive in a home with another friendly, well‑balanced dog to help build his confidence and provide companionship. He is crate‑trained and does very well with routine – he eats separately in his crate and happily sleeps there at night, finding comfort in his own safe space.
Mickey is currently in training for resource guarding, and his new owner will need to be committed to continuing this work. He is still learning to take treats politely and benefits greatly from a structured, predictable home environment where expectations are clear and consistent. Because of his history, Mickey will need an adult‑only home with no children.
Once you earn Mickey’s trust, he truly shines. He is a sweet, affectionate boy who forms a deep bond with his people and becomes a loving, devoted companion. He does lack confidence and can find new situations overwhelming, so he needs a calm, patient adopter who understands that trust takes time and is willing to go at Mickey’s pace.
Mickey is looking for a quiet, adult‑only home with experienced, kind‑hearted humans who can provide structure, reassurance, and ongoing training. In return, he will give unwavering loyalty and a very special kind of love to the person who believes in him.
